Dahl/Lentil Recipe
Ingredients: Serves 4
- 2 Cups red dahl(washed and soaked for half n hour)
- (If using mung beans soak it overnight)
- One large onion chopped
- One large tomato chopped
- 2-3 Garlic cloves chopped
- 5-6 Curry leaves if available
- 1tsp mustard seeds for tempering
- 1 Pack BombaySpices Dahl/Lentil Spice Mix
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/4 cup oil to cook
- Salt to taste
Method:
- Heat oil in a pan
- Add the mustard seeds and let it crackle
- Switch off the gas and wait until the oil cools down a little
- Switch on the gas again, add the chopped onion and garlic, sauté until pink
- Now add the chopped tomatoes, curry leaves, dahl lentil spice mix, turmeric, and salt.
- Combine well, and cover the lid, cook until the tomatoes are soft and mushy.
- Now add the soaked dahl along with 1 to 1 1/2 cups of water.
- Cover the lid and simmer on low flame until the dahl is cooked.
- (Adjust the consistency of the dahl according to your liking by adding water)
- Serve hot with rice/roti.
